The Royal Poinciana (Delonix regia) is an ornamental tree which grows up to 30 to 40ft in height. In India, it is widely known as the Gulmohar tree which means “peacock flower” due to its abundant color.

For several weeks during the spring and summer season the tree is covered with clusters of flame red flowers. In India, the Gulmohar tree is frequently used as roadside shade trees and in gardens.
