Orange Marsh Darts, Ceriagrion rubiae in copula, photographed in the Periyar Tiger Reserve. The male is mostly golden, while the female is more olivaceous. I’m unsure whether this is exclusive to this species or in all damselflies, but while this mating pair was flying from perch to perch, various other males (of the same species, of course) would come close and try to hijack the female. I haven’t had much opportunity to fully observe behavior due to time deficiencies in natural habitats, but this was one of the more educating ones about territorialism.
