One of the world’s most magnificent flowering trees, African Tulip Tree (Spathodea campanulata) is an evergreen tree native to central africa.
It is also known as “flame of the forest” because of its blooming flowers in the combination of red, orange and yellow. The cup shaped flower attracts nectar feeding birds and insects. This tree is widely used as an ornamental in gardens.
The tree flowers in spurts all through the season but peak bloom is in the spring.

It is a magnificent tree. The colors make it so heartwarming and hopeful. In Bangalore , our flat is sorrounded by these trees, and viewed from the third floor it is sheer poetry. The bees, of course would like to taste us sometimes.
