Salvia scarlet sage is a shrubby, ornamental plant with scarlet red flowers and symmetrical leaves growing commonly in India’s Western Ghats. It is widely cultivated as a bedding plant in many countries. 
The leaves are bright to dark green with a toothy edge. The flowers are helmet-shaped on the upper lip and flat on the lower lip. The plant grows to a height of 3 ft. and attracts bees, humming birds and butterflies.
