Signature Spiders are commonly found in India, especially the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Their name comes from their distinctive zig-zag patterned X in the center of their webs.
In addition to their “signature” webs, their hunting style is quite unusual. After constructing their web they pair their legs together to line up with the bright white X. Not only do they appear like an insect other than a spider, the sun reflects off of the web design and the intertwined hairs on their legs so with their colorful bodies they appear like a flower to the bees and wasps that make up their prey.
