Located in the Nilgiri district, Ooty Lake was constructed in 1825 at the urging of the Coimbatore collector Mr. John Sullivan. At the time it was built in order to provide irrigation to the people of the region. Currently tourists take boating tours on the lake to view the beautiful eucalyptus trees surrounding the shore.
