Blackbuck National Park at Velavadar in the Bhavnagar District of Gujarat is a paradise to photograph blackbucks in their natural habitat. They are photographer friendly and will pose for you.
Exposure is a complex area of photography, but in situations like these where the habitat is open it is a bit easy to use the standard “sunny f16 rule”.
As per the sunny f16 rule (which is more of an exposure for landscape, but can be used for all genre using the theory of reciprocity), in bright sunny weather (no haze/fog/mist etc) the correct shutter speed for an aperture of f16 is 1/<ISO>
For example:
If you’re using an ISO of 200, then the shutter speed at f16 is 1/200. So using reciprocity theory, you can use any of the below combination to get good exposure on your subject at ISO 200:
f16 – 1/200
f11 – 1/400
f8 – 1/800
f5.6 1/1600
Normally f8 @ 1/800 at ISO 200 is a good combination for most wildlife images in bright sunny conditions.
