Hinduism employs many different gods, many of which represent aspects of the world or ideologies such as the Sun god, the god of prosperity, the wind god, etc. These various deities are depicted in the ancient scripts and are believed to be reborn in human form when the world is being exploited by evil in order to restore peace and harmony.
Hindu Gods are worshiped in temples, however practicing Hindus devote designated place in their homes called pooja rooms for smaller idols of of their patron gods to worship on a daily basis. On special occasion and once a week they visit the temples for blessings and offerings in the form of flowers, sweets and coconuts. Gods are usually depicted as either humanoid or partially humanoid with animalistic forms as well.
