The Sri Krishna Temple of Ambalappuzha is situated about 12 km south of Alleppey. Dedicated to Lord Sri Krishna, the temple architecture is a mixture of Keralan and Dravidian styles.

The temple is famous for the rice pudding (Pal Payasam) that is offered to Lord Krishna, which according to legend is the result of a bet between Krishna and the local king. The Pallipana dance is performed here by Velans every 12 years, and the significant event is marked with a boat race.
