Diwali is the biggest and brightest Hindu festival of India. For 5 days all the homes are illuminated with lights and all the streets with firecrackers. For Hindus of all sects Diwali is the one of the most festive and beautiful times of the year. Since it is based on a lunar calendar the actual dates vary, but generally Diwali is celebrated each year during October to November. Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated after the conclusion of Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting. Ramadan is always in the ninth month of the lunar year, so the date it falls in the calendar year varies. During this time Muslims abstain from eating and drinking throughout the day, and spend time in prayer to purify the body and soul.
