Backwater Visions: Part 2

A narrow canal stemming from the Backwaters, complete with sidewalks and homes on the banks.

Alleppey's riverbanks are full of life and color; on this one, a brightly painted building is slowly being colonized by creeping vines.

Logistics? Construction materials are transported along the river channels by boat to allow for large buildings such as this church to be built.

Bathing, laundry, religious rights... even life itself; these things all revolve around the flowing waters of the Backwaters, and the locals never forget it.

Landings are interspersed sporadically along the riverbanks, often seemingly without reason.

This channel stretches into the greenery; most waterways are not as straight as this one.

Part 1 is here.
