Niligiri Langur (Trachypithecus johnii) is endemic to the rainforests in the Western Ghats and they are one of the more common sights in the Periyar Tiger Reserve.

They are arboreal in nature and usually found in tropical evergreen forests of Western Ghats. This primate is famous for its long tail. Unlike the common macaque, these monkeys tend to keep away from people.
