Most of the people in India have enjoyed the sweet and pungent taste of Cinnamon. Also known as “Sweet Wood” in some countries, Cinnamon is one of the species native to the hills of Kerala and Sri Lanka.
Cinnamon Bark is widely used in cooking as a flavoring spice in both sweet and savory recipes. Cinnamon is main flavor in Indian dishes like Briyani, chicken curry etc.
In Ayurveda, Cinnamon Leaves contain Eugenol which has highly effective antiviral properties. Cinnamon Powder is used as a remedy for diabetes, indigestion, and common colds.
Love the photo and the reference to Cinnamon and it’s uses. I’ve seen lots of spices growing in Kerala, so very beautiful and interesting. Thank you.
Thanks for the comment. Let us know if you’re coming back to Kerala!
