Malabar Plum (syzygium jambos)

This flower is the white variety of the Malabar Plum (Rose Apple) which is medium sized, tropical flowering tree that grows up to 15 meters high. This is the flowering season (March to May) for this tropical plant which yields white colored rose apple fruit.

Unlike the other red variety of the fruit, this variety has abundant aroma which attracts  bees, birds and butterflies. In India the fruit is widely eaten and unripe ones used for making pickles. Malabar plum carries medicinal properties which can used to treat  asthma, fatigue and dysentery. An infusion of the fruits is used as brain tonic.
