The Chellarkovil Waterfall

Kerala is considered ”God’s Own Country” for a reason, and that is because of its wonderful people, amazing wildlife, and absolutely stunning landscape.  If you are looking to experience the natural beauty of Kerala, then definitely sign up for the Chellarkovil Waterfall trip.  The mountaintop views of both Kerala and the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu are unbelievable, and looking out over the rolling hillside at the breathtaking waterfall is a truly unforgettable experience.

We left Cardamom County at 2:00 PM excited to set off on our partial-day waterfall activity.  A quick ten-to fifteen-minute drive from Cardamom County was our first stop, an overlook that offered breathtaking views of the Periyar Tiger Reserve and its surrounding area.  Off in the distance we were able to spot Periyar Lake, nestled within towering mountains that stretched as far as the eye could see.  It was amazing to be completely surrounded by mountains as we looked out over vast expanses of jungle.  It was all so stunningly beautiful that I made sure to take plenty of pictures.  The next stop was the waterfall.  The drive from the first stop to the second was also very quick, taking only about ten minutes.  The ride was a little rough but well worth it, for soon we arrived at the waterfall, which was absolutely incredible.   The views of both Tamil Nadu and the waterfall may very well be the most awesome scenery I have seen during my time in Kerala.  Standing there, I must have taken nearly two hundred photos in less than five minutes.  Once we had finished taking pictures of everyone in front of the waterfall, we headed back to Cardamom County, which was a quick drive along the major road to Kumily.  The whole activity lasted about two and a half hours as we returned a little before 4:30 PM.  The trip to the waterfall was truly amazing, and I highly recommend this activity to all guests staying in the Kumily area.
