Vegetables and fruits typically constitute an essential part of the daily diet in India and they are in great demand year-round by most sections of the population. Open markets are very common in both small towns and cities of South India, where people buy and sell their fresh vegetables and fruits.

Ahh, look at those bananas! This is what you call ´right from a tree´:)
Local markets should be available to everyone and everywhere in the world.
Hi Infreegarden. We’ve also lived in Europe and Latin America and I think we’ve found markets like this in every place we’ve lived, although I have to admit that bananas weren’t always part of the local produce! (Even Central America couldn’t compete with the number of banana varieties found in South India!)
