The national tree of India, the Banyan is one of the most magical and mystical of trees. In Indian culture the Banyan tree is considered to be sacred and leaves of the tree are considered to be the resting place of Lord Krishna. It is also believed that Buddha achieved enlightenment while sitting under a Banyan tree.
Each and every part of this tree has its own unique medical use. They’re frequently planted at the entrance of temples throughout the country, and they are still used as a source of shade in many villages.
what an amazing tree! I wonder whether you can tell me the significance of the little suspended houses in the lower picture? Thanks.
