  1. Those things really are stately, . . . and intimidating if they want you to leave the area they are hunting for frogs in! They have been known to kill gophers, though I can not imagine how they get them. Perhaps if the ground is wet enough for them to be hunting in, it is too wet for gophers to stay underground.
