Stuff, Change, And Examining Broke

View the video by clicking the image above, again brought to you on Cornell University’s website:

The United States isn’t broke; we’re the richest country on the planet and a country in which the richest among us are doing exceptionally well. But the truth is, our economy is broken, producing more pollution, greenhouse gasses and garbage than any other country.

In these and so many other ways, it just isn’t working. But rather than invest in something better, we continue to keep this ‘dinosaur economy’ on life support with hundreds of billions of dollars of our tax money.

The Story of Broke calls for a shift in government spending toward investments in clean, green solutions–renewable energy, safer chemicals and materials, zero waste and more–that can deliver jobs AND a healthier environment. It’s time to rebuild the American Dream; but this time, let’s build it better.

  1. Not only our economy is broke, our ethics our morals our families our EVERYTHING stinks. How can anybody live in this country and say “well done”? Yeah, let’s build a better country, but face it :Cornell University with it’s liberalism will not be able to contribute ONE thing.

    • Hi Beate, There are days when it all seems broke, but those days are outnumbered by the ones on which things get fixed; or at least pointing in the right direction. We are looking for those little pointers, and sometimes (from our perspective) they show up on Cornell University’s website. We also look for pointers in as many different locations as possible, and if you have any that would be appropriate for our site, we would welcome them. Thanks for commenting.
