The Kodungallur Bharani Festival is celebrated in the Kodungallur Bhagavathi Temple to commemorate the extermination of the demon Darika by Bhadrakali. This festival attracts the largest congregation of Velichappadu or oracles in Kerala. A series of unique rituals are performed during the festivities.
There is Theripattu, the singing of songs addressed to the temple deity. One of oldest temple festivals in Kerala, Kodugallur Bharani festival falls in the month of March – April every year, based on the Malaylam calendar.
