After decades of gridlocked discussions, polarizing politics and ill warnings for our planet, despair is getting the better of the sustainability agenda. Doomsday scenarios and pictures of melting icebergs can catch people’s attention for a moment, but will not create the excitement and engagement necessary. Most of all, these images generate hopelessness and discourage actions.

We believe change comes when people know what exciting possibilities a sustainable future holds. And we believe this is done by giving people insights to how their everyday life could be improved by sustainable practices and routines. That’s why we are dedicated to communicate the attractive and empowering aspects of sustainable living – without discarding the urgency of the matter.

A decade from now, we will still face immense challenges, but by starting now we can mark the beginning of a much-needed transformation. Sustainia is a step in the right direction. A step towards the ultimate goal defined by the Brundtland Commission on Sustainable Development in 1992: Letting future generations enjoy the same opportunities as we do today.

Sustainia is a vibrant community of citizens, organizations and companies from all over the world. We believe that change is created bottom-up, which is why we listen, discuss and develop our mission in a dialogue with our community.

Our partners and clients span three continents and our followers come from more than 115 countries. Together, we share solutions and stories on the future we wish to achieve. Last year, those stories got published in over 20 countries and reached over 130 million on Twitter.

We have received an overwhelming contribution of solutions for the Sustainia100 2015 and we are working around the clock to research and validate the integrity of these solutions and innovations. After Sustainia has carefully vetted these solutions with the help of an international advisory board, the top 100 sustainability solutions will be published in this years Sustainia100. Launch date to be confirmed.

But the solutions journey does not stop here. We will continue to search for solutions in the lead up to COP21 in Paris as part of our solution focused approach. Contribute to our growing database and help us build the world of tomorrow.
